Along with pros, there will likely be cons. These are some of the possible reasons as to why 3D bioprinting is extremely controversial.

- There are many ethical restrictions and concerns. A big one is equal access to treatment because undoubtedly the pricing will be high and not everyone will be able to afford. Is it unfair to only be able to offer this treatment to those who have money for it? There are also concerns regarding clinical safety complications and finally the advanced enhancement of the human body. Having an engineered organ in your body has raised many questions in terms of whether someone can be still “human” or if they’re considered advanced because they have a better working heart than the average human.
- This biotechnology uses large amounts of energy adding to the emission of unhealthy particles into the air. This contributes to pollution. Although it saves the lives of many animals, is it worth it to risk the environment the animals habituate in?
- It is extremely difficult to maintain cell environment, which is the conditions the cell needs to be in to stay alive. This could result in the death of many cells which is a waste of time, money, and resources.
Are these reasons enough to outweigh the pros of this biotechology?
